Troubleshooting

Waxing a Car!

Issue: Too Much Product on Panel

  • Cause: Over-applying clear coat to the applicator.

  • Solution: Use a clean applicator, lightly misted with Slow Moe, and avoid adding more clear coat. Work the applicator over the affected area to absorb the excess clear coat from the panel, ensuring a smooth, even finish.

Issue: Product Separation (Contamination)

  • Symptoms: The product fails to self-level, resulting in waves, ripples, or small bubbles on the surface.

  • Solution:

    1. Remove the product using lacquer thinner to eliminate the imperfections.
    2. Relocate to a shaded area to allow the panel to cool.
    3. Clean the surface with a panel prep solution, followed by denatured alcohol to ensure it’s ready for reapplication.
    4. Reapply the clear coat carefully.

Tip: Before applying the clear coat, use a spray bottle to mist denatured alcohol onto the panel to cool it by 20° to 30°, improving application results.

Issue: Extreme Panel Temperature

  • Symptoms: Product does not self-level, leading to waves, ripples, or small bubbles.
  • Solution:
    1. Remove the product using lacquer thinner.
    2. Move to a shaded area, allowing the panel to cool.
    3. Clean with panel prep solution, then denatured alcohol.
    4. Reapply clear coat.
(Tip: Use a spray bottle to mist denatured alcohol on the panel to cool it by 20° to 30° before applying clear coat.)

Issue: Contamination on Cured Clear Coat

  • Contaminants: Pollen, dust, or similar particles.

  • Solution:

    • If the panel is dry, use a spray wax or waterless wash with a microfiber cloth to gently remove contaminants without damaging the surface.
    • For fully cured clear coat (after 5-7 days), lightly buff or sand the affected area and spot apply clear coat as needed to restore a flawless finish.
